My Musings for the Week!

August 21, 2026

“I am the leader of one country which has two alphabets, three languages, four religions, five nationalities, six republics, surrounded by seven neighbors; a country in which live eight ethnic minorities.” Josip Broz Tito, Yugoslav Communist Leader.

-Ford Motor Corp. announced plans to move the production of several Lincoln models back to the US from China. The Nautilus SUV, see picture below, is going to made in the US. Last year, Ford sold 43,000 of these SUVs. General Motors also announced similar plans. They are moving the production of the Buick Envision back to the US. This is incredible news for the US economy.

SNAP benefits in 2026 reached a total of 42 million recipients. People receiving food assistance. About 20 years ago that number was 17 million. Huge increase. Yet, in the last 6-8 years the US economy has boomed. California has 5.5 million people on SNAP. Monthly amount is $990. US Virgin Islands and Guam have a higher monthly amount.

I have long been interested in procrastination. I have written about the significant negative effects of procrastination on people. So, I am not surprised to read about several new studies about procrastination. One recent study concluded that procrastination causes a $15,000 drop in annual earnings for every point on a 5-point scale. Another study reports procrastination is linked to lack of self-esteem, anxiety, loneliness. and depression. Procrastination is also directly linked to serious medical issues. Studies link “working from home” and cell phones” as a major factor. Physical exercise seems to be an effective “cure.” A study showed those that exercise regularly do not procrastinate.

Bangladesh is a Muslim country with 173 million people. Clothing is a major export making up 80% of the country’s export earnings. About 4 million people, mostly women, work in the clothing business. Another 30 million depend on the garment industry. Sadly, Bangladesh has closed 400+ clothing factories in the last 3 years. Government unrest (student led uprisings) led buyers to decrease orders. Rolling blackouts, and higher energy costs also caused much of the decline. Some activists that caused the civil unrest also own factories, but many are now in jail. What a sad story. Completely avoidable. PS-the currency in Bangladesh is the tata. 122.4 = $1US

Lastly, the Charlotte area of NC is hosting a luncheon event featuring the cuisine from 5 top BBQ chefs. The five pitmasters will be present to offer their best dishes. Sounds like fun. But the cost is $175/person. Really? My wife and I would like to attend but not at that price. $350 for a BBQ lunch is crazy.

The Dumbest Things AOC has said, so Far!

August 9, 2026

“The absolutely worse people to be around are those that are arrogant and stupid. That combination leads to unpleasantness. energy draining, frustration, and slow progress” Self

We all know AOC is a Congresswoman from NYC. She has been in office 7 long years. Among the press core she is nicknamed “Follow-up question.” She can utter simple responses but does not have the substance to further explain. She has an image consultant who told her to wear large glasses and place her hands and fingers near her face to “look smart.”

Over the last 7 years AOC has said some really stupid things, see the example above. And below are some of my favorites:

1.”To me, capitalism is irredeemable.”

2. “If we work our butts off to make sure we take back all three chambers of Congress, rather all three chambers of government, the presidency, the Senate and the House.

3. “Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs.”

4.”I see people rushing out to fill up their cars for the hurricane at the gas station. This wouldn’t be an issue if they had electric cars. If the electric is out for a week, how do they get gas? We need to start planning ahead and moving forward.”

5.” If people are actually concerned about undocumented people, the clear solution would be to offer documentation. It’s safer and secure for everyone.”

6. Under capitalism, man oppresses man. Under socialism, it’s the other way around.”

7. “Millennials and people you know and all these folks you know that will come after us, are looking up and we’re like the world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change and your biggest issue is how are going to pay for it.”

8. “The economic transition to renewable energy will be the vehicle to end economic and racial injustice.”

9. ” I think that there’s a lot of people being more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.”

10. ” That doesn’t mean that we can kidnap a head of state and engage in acts of war, just because the nation (Venezuela) is below the equator.”

Just think about these quotes from AOC. Can you imagine her thought processes as she votes in Congress? What exactly is her competency level, her judgment, and her basic understanding of the US government, financial matters, legislation, and macroeconomics? And this is a person who gets briefs on most subjects. I think she is too lazy to study the issues.

Sad News-Bonnie Tyler has Passed!

August 3, 2026

“We want a society where people are free to make choices, to be generous and compassionate. This is what we mean by a moral society; not a society where the state is responsible for everything, and no one is responsible for the state.” Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher-UK.

Bonnie Tyler passed away on July 8 at the age of 75. See Google images below.

8-bit RGB flat Mac byte order LZW compressed TIFF file, 2491×3831 pixels (0.92×1.42 inches) @ 2700.00 pixels/inch, written by Adobe Photoshop CS

Her real name was Gaynor Hopkins. She was born in Wales and had 5 siblings. Her father was a coal miner. At a very early age she wrote songs and signed with various record labels. Her nickname was “Britian’s First Lady of Rock.” She had a raspy voice which I loved.

Her mega hits included “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” Holding out for a Hero,” It’s a Heartache,” “Straight from the Heart,” and “Making Love-Out of Nothing at All.”

In total, she released 17 studio albums and sold over 5 million copies. I have many of her songs on my playlist. She is gone but never forgotten!

“Once upon a time I was falling in love, now I’m only falling apart, there’s nothing I can do, a total eclipse of the Heart.”

My Weekly Musings!

August 1, 2026

A Scottish Proverb: “The Father Buys, the Son Builds, the Grandson Sells, and his son Begs!” This means wealth can be inherited, but financial discipline cannot. Source unknown.

Spain is a Socialist country, spending 26% of their GNP on social welfare programs. Spain’s GDP is $2.1 trillion, or $41,500 per capita. Solid numbers. However, that is about to change dramatically. See picture below.

Approximately 50,000-60,000 young men flooded into Spain from Morrocco. Spain dispatched the military to handle the mess. Let’s see how this socialist country welcomes these new residents.

A new EOB arrived from my prescription drug provider. The 6-page document contained a list of the languages a member could request in order to better understand the statement. The languages included: English, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Hrvatski (Croatia), French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Hmong, Italian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Navajo, Polish, Portuguese, Punjab, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Telugu, Vietnamese, Amharic, Bassa, Igbo, Yoruba, Nepali. A total of 33 languages. Part of the naturalized citizen requirements in the US. is the ability to read, write, and speak English. Just wondering!

Tufts University is located in the greater Boston area and has 11,500 students. The cost to attend Tufts is estimated to be $75,000 per year. Tufts is a private university and ranked among the top 50 universities in the US. Regrettably, Tufts has a Department of Studies in Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora with 7 different tracks of study. Can you imagine spending $300,000 for a BA degree in Colonialism? Future Uber driver!

NC lawmakers are pursuing new legislation involving the teaching of sexuality in public elementary schools. The proposed bill will restrict books for kindergarteners about sexuality, sexual activity, and gender studies, among several other troubling issues. Can you imagine a 22-year-old public-school teacher in first grade teaching sexual intercourse to 6-year-olds? Democrats defended the teaching. Same with sex books in the library. I think they are out of their minds.

Recent studies in the US indicate, once again, the importance of marriage. Children raised in two parent households are 2-3X more likely to attend college and achieve higher incomes. Those children, regardless of race, raised in single parent households are 2X more likely to be jailed. Sadly, the US has the world’s highest rate of single parent households, 23% compared to the international average of 7%. Some economists believe the state and federal government social benefit programs dissuade mothers from marriage. They get more $$$$’s if single.

In 2000, the US declared the elimination of measles. Just 80+ cases reported across the US. that year. Sadly, this year the US. experienced a record number of measles cases, 2,300 cases. That is a 35 year high. Texas has seen a significant number of measle cases, large outbreaks coming from unvaccinated people. Seems towns on the US/Mexico border have it the worst. Measles is highly contagious effecting the respiratory system before spreading to the rest of the body. The CDC says 20% of those infected are hospitalized.

Lastly, the WNBA is the worst run professional sports team in America. Who is in charge?

South Africa-Dangerous!

July 28, 2026

Lord Kelvin (1824- 1907) was a Scottish mathematician, and physicist. His area(s) of expertise, among many, was thermodynamics. He once said, “if you cannot express a topic in numbers, then your knowledge of it is meager and unsatisfactory.” My advice, speak with specifics, details, and facts. Use numbers.

Map of SA provided by Google images.

South Africa has a population of 64 million people. Its per capita income is $6,200, ranking it about 100th in the world. South Africa has 70+ political parties. Imagine that! The African National Congress is the leading political party. The President is Cyril Ramaphosa. He represents the ANC party and has been in office as President since 2018. He has served in many executive leadership roles in SA since the mid 1990’s. He is a billionaire and has been involved in numerous scandals. See his picture below.

Cape Town is the capital of SA. That city has 5 million people, and it is ranked the 7th most dangerous city in the world. During the first 3 months of 2026, Cape Town recorded 6,000 murders. The city of Durban is ranked 9th most dangerous in the world. See map. Pietersburg is also ranked among the most dangerous cities of the world, same with the city of Pretoria.

According to some crime reporting organizations and data collection sites, South Africa has 5 of the world’s top ten most dangerous cities.

And sadly, most of the crimes are committed against “foreign nationals.” Seems there is little tolerance for outsiders.

Hate Speech

July 22, 2026

” My own opinion is enough for me, and I claim the right to have it defended against any consensus, any majority, anywhere, any place, any time.” Christopher Hitchens, British American journalist and author.

The following essay is deliberately provocative.

Hate speech is a relatively new term, developed in the Western Hemisphere about 8-10 years ago. Political figures and liberal activists use the term to defame persons and groups. Hate speech is widely used to “protect” minorities, especially Blacks, Muslims and sometimes Jews. Hate speech is also claimed often in reference to LBGTQ’s. Seems those groups decide which words or phrases offend them. Hate speech is rarely used in reference to Whites and/or men.

Name calling has been part of America for 150+ years. It was never ok to use terms like Japs, Wop (without passport), Spic, Dago, or Coon. Those words are rarely used today.

Over the last 50 years I have been called many names, mostly slang, and ususally coming from low educated people. Here is a sample of the names I have been called: redneck, dummy, jerk, asshole, moron, idiot, fool, bum, turd, big shot, knucklehead, bullshitter, prick, S.O.B., bully, cracker, jive-ass honky and loudmouth. At no time did these names cause me harm or prevent me from pursuing 3 college degrees.

My Dad and I were best friends. He died when I was 51. He never cursed and never used slang while referring to others.

More recently, some blonde bimbo (hahaha) at CNN called men toxic. That seems hateful!

Sadly, political activists want individuals arrested, sanctioned, fired, or killed if the person uses “hate Speech.” But that harsh approach has two major problems, One-speech is protected in the US, Amendment 1 of the Constitution (Bill of Rights). And please note that the right of free speech is inherent, given at birth, not bestowed by the government.

The second major problem with “hate speech” is who decides? Seems you can’t defame Mohammed, but you can slander the Catholic Church. Black elected officials can utter insults about White men, but those men cannot respond with reference to the Black race. Is there a list of “prohibited words? Who decides? Comedians get “boycotted” if they utter a joke about Black women. Stores that don’t support Black activism get trashed or looted. Police officers are called pigs, especially by Black rioters. Worse with Federal officers.

Protesters often burn the American flag and hold signs condemning this country. No harm comes to them. Yet, video a group of men burning a copy of the Koran and see what happens. Violence and death threats.

The spoken word cannot hurt you, the exception being defamation professionally. It seems to me a matter of tolerance. Or a matter of controlling the opposing view.

My Random Irritations for the Day!

July 17, 2026

“Omission is treated kindlier in the Western Hemisphere than commission. There is a bias towards inaction. Leaders at all levels are judged less harshly if they fail to act. Leaders that act, drive change, wade in to solve problems, attempt to end a crisis, or to address issues are judged harshly if they fail or provide a partial solution. It’s easy for people to find fault when action is taken. Harder to judge when no action is taken.” Self

I do not care about the WNBA, never watched a game. I’ve seen reports that the league has never earned a profit. For 30 years the league has received bailout $$$ from the NBA. In year 2024, the league lost $40 million. Catlin Clark joined the league 2025 and game attendance and TV viewing revenue skyrocketed. Total revenue jumped 33%. Her jersey is the second largest selling jersey in basketball, Curry is first. Clark has set 15-20 records so far. The internet is constantly abuzz with stories about her. She has remained classy. Yet the WNBA players (64% Black) are so envious and racist toward Clark that she is being roughed up deliberately. The refs are scared to call blatant fouls. The Commissioner is worthless, over her head. Clark is the revenue generator. I hope she skips the WNBA next season and plays in Europe.

The State of Maine has a population of 1,780,000 people with an average household income of $71,000. The State is mostly rural and 91% White. The Democratic Party named Graham Platner as its US Senate nominee for the November 2026 election. See his picture below. The United States Senate is the most important legislative body in the world.

The DNC leaders and national representatives endorsed Platner. Elizabeth Warren campaigned for him. Fools! Simply put, Platner is a reckless, uneducated, womanizing, moron with no apparent civility or class. And worse, when the truth was discovered, he blamed others during his resignation speech. He served 8 years in the Marines and received a 100% disability rating from the VA. His pension is not taxed.

“Fruit from the Poisonous Tree.” Below is a picture of Tawana Brown, former Charlotte City Councilwoman. She pleaded guilty of mail fraud; spending Covid -19 relief funds intended for small businesses on lavish personal gifts. She faces 20 years in prison. Her 2 daughters also pleaded guilty. What a wonderful role model.

I have a sore neck from shaking my head and my teeth hurt from clinching, yet I continue to read news reports of welfare fraud. Recently, 2 illegal immigrants from Romania pleaded guilty to mail fraud. They were brothers. Court records show they stole $760,000 from the SNAP program. They used skimming devices at ATMs to steal identities then loaded the stolen data onto bank cards and gift cards.

And lastly, I do not watch much regular TV because of the idiotic commercials. The people on commercials look and act foolish and are dressed like clowns. I don’t like “Doug and his pet emu.” Stupid. And I would never buy a product promoted by a lizard. Prescription drugs are widely promoted. “Ask your doctor about Skyrizi.” Hell, I guess these commercials are working. Duh!

Moving abroad to avoid paying Student Debt

April 27, 2026

“Many people make bad decisions in life. Those decisions place people on paths that lead to destruction and despair. Some people are too stupid the realize their bad choices. Many claim to be victims. Most are too lazy to dig their way out. It’s the path they chose.”Self

These are pictures of Amanda Lynn Tully. She is 37 years old and has $65,000 in student debt. She graduated 9 years ago from U. of Oregon with a master’s degree in Historic Preservation. Probably, a nonsense degree. No job! Still, obtaining 2 college degrees from U. of Oregon and graduating with $65K in debt is reasonable. Imagine her income if she had pursued an MBA? She made very bad choices.

A year after she graduated, she moved to Prague to avoid paying her student debt. She was paying $60/month when she defaulted her loans. Somehow, she had the $$$’s to move to Prague. and to buy multiple tattoos. The large tattoo on her arm costs about $600, maybe more.

Her story was featured in our local newspaper, the “Charlotte Fishwrap.” The article was a full-page story about her and 3 others. All student loan debtors that have fled the US. One graduated from Princeton and fled to China.

Tully’s loan does not go away. It is a contractual agreement. She borrowed the money from the US. Federal Government funded by taxpayer dollars. She is in default and her credit record will be impacted. She has made many bad choices.

The Charlotte “Fishwrap” should not publish stories like this. The paper should highlight achievement, success and perseverance.

How Employees Get Paid

April 25, 2026

“For decades, Economists have been studying the notion of income versus happiness. It turns out that money can buy happiness. High income people are happier than low-income people. People in rich countries are happier than people in low-income countries.” Self

The poorest countries in the world share common characteristics. Most are in Africa, many have territorial conflicts, very unstable and corrupt governments, limited infrastructure, many are land locked, and dependent on agricultural products.

Income is usually derived from work. An employer pays you for the work you perform. But, how is the level of pay determined? The answer to that question involves many factors. Those factors, in order of importance are shown below:

  1. Industry-high technology pays more than retail. Financial services pays more than customer service. Hospitality is low paying. Heavy Manufacturing pays more than teaching. College teaching pays more than teaching 1st grade. Pharmaceuticals pay well.
  2. Function-R/D pays well, engineering and chemistry pay more than HR. Sales and Marketing employees are paid well if on commission, especially for high tech products. Accounting and Finance employees are paid the average.
  3. Experience-employees with 10 years’ experience make more than new hires. Many companies have career ladders to reward experienced employees. Usually, the experienced employees are assigned larger /more complicated projects.
  4. Education-college educated employees earn more than HS graduates. New hires with MBA’s start at higher pay levels than BS degreed employees. Tech graduates earn more than liberal arts employees. And-graduates from top rated business schools are offered higher starting salaries.
  5. Scope and complexity of job-employees with more responsibility earn more. They are often assigned the larger more complicated tasks. Managers of large groups earn more than team leaders.
  6. Performance-strong performing employees are paid better and sometimes receive bonuses. Merit pay still exists, and rightly so.
  7. Financial strength of company-highly successful companies pay more. They have the financial resources, and they want to retain employees. Companies that are struggling often “freeze hiring and pay increases.” Never a good sign.
  8. Location-employees located in New England, New York, and California are paid higher salaries than employees living in Alabama, South Carolina, or Florida. This is directly related to the cost of living.

My final thought- You never want to work for a company that pays everyone the same. There is no incentive and the more talented employees leave. The true value of an employee can be expressed algebraically: current performance + potential – hassle factor = true value.

In Case you missed it!

April 23,2026

“Ninja borrowers are those with no income, no job and no assets.” Author unknown.

The “Charlotte Fishwrap” published 32 pages, tiny font, three columns per page of the names of delinquent taxpayers. That is roughly 13,500 who owe taxes to Mecklenburg County and to the city of Charlotte. What is the collection process? Every year that list is published.

Immigrant groups are demanding changes to the arrest procedures. They feel certain places should be safe zones with no arrests allowed. What? If I committed a state or federal crime I suspect the police would arrest while in the shower or in bed. What difference does it make of the location while serving an arrest warrant? Let’s not go down that path.

The US. Dept. of Education had 4,200 people beginning this year. Trump is moving to dismantle that agency. What exactly do they do? How does that dept. know the teaching needs of states like NC or WV.? Education is a local matter. Interestingly, the national teachers’ unions are opposed to the reduction. And-that dept. has been administering the student loan program with approximately 1/3 borrowers being delinquent.

Luis Alberto Miranda-Vilchis has been charged with a fatal hit and run in Charlotte. According to court records, he hit a 58-year-old man while the man was crossing the street. Miranda-Vilchis was deported from Texas 4 years ago and re-entered the US illegally.

NC teachers are planning a protest march on May 1st. No classes for students that day. Schools will be forced to close. Public employees are not allowed to strike so it will be interesting to see what happens. Parents will have to find babysitters. Teachers are basically walking off their jobs and traveling to Raleigh. No learning that day. Teachers actually are in school about 35 weeks a year. They receive 11 paid holidays, 19 workdays, 10 days of annual leave and have a summer break of 9.5 weeks. With a very “rich” benefit package, Teachers in NC average $86,000 in total compensation. If they worked 49 weeks a year their comp. would be $106,000.

Recently, I received a bill from BC/BS of North Carolina. That policy is a supplement to my Medicare and costs $100/month. Interestingly, that EOB and bill is available in the following languages-English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, French, Hmong (southeast Asia), Russian, Tagalog (Philippines), Gujarati (Indo-Aryan), Mon-Khmer (Cambodia), German, Hindi, Laotian, and Japanese. I hope the people speaking these languages are paying for the coverage.

Lastly, the US is now providing aid to many African countries, using a new domestic co-investment strategy. Blood products, vaccines, and medicines are being delivered by parachutes via drones to 15,000 clinics in countries like Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, and Rwanda. The new aid packages require African countries to co-fund the costs, provide healthcare data to track progress and allow US access to some resources in the various countries. Aid countries will be required to increase funding for healthcare. The goal is to reduce the cases of polio, TB, HIV, and Malaria. This new approach will not provide funding for DEI.

The 5 Evils of Society

April 20, 2026

“If you are not sure where you are or where you belong, walk in like you own the place.” Self

In 1942 the British economist, William Beveridge, was commissioned to study and write a report about society’s most impacting social issues. Beveridge was a social welfare advocate and a liberal. His report summarized what he considered to be the greatest needs for government to address regarding the welfare system in England.

His findings were called “The 5 Evils.” They included “Want, Disease, Ignorance, Squalor, and Idleness.” He believed government should address these “evils.” Perhaps he was right, perhaps not. France has the largest ($$$) welfare system in the world, yet France is not an economically strong country with $53K per capita income. The US. is $94K.

I have developed my own “5 Evils” for the US. using the framework from Beveridge.

  1. Poverty-Blacks have a lower household income than Asians and Whites. That is because a majority of Black households have a single wage earner, the mother, and she often works part-time. When the state minimum wage is raised, employers reduce the workforce. Fraud in the welfare system is being discovered everywhere. Welfare $$$”s are being stolen. Money is being misspent. Tattoos are expensive. A sleeve cost about $1800. Long eye lashes are also expensive costing about $150 per month. Same with fake nails. Bad choices. Drug usage strongly impacts poverty. Cause and effect!
  2. Disease-new diseases are on the rise in the US, including yellow fever, chickenpox, measles, polio, TB, E. Coli, and in some cases, HIV. Unvaccinated immigrants have entered this country, and their children are in our schools. Our ERs are overwhelmed. Our local healthcare system is reporting 33% non-payers.
  3. Ignorance-the US has too many NEET’s. They are non-educated, non-employed, and non-trained people. Currently, the US has 9-10 million young people not looking for employment. Many are living in their parent’s basements. The parents can cover their medical insurance until age 26. Big mistake. Baltimore has 11 high schools without one student passing the math competency exam. That is outrageous. Where is the Governor of Maryland? Students in college are allowed to borrow $100,000’s for college. At least 1/3 are delinquent in paying it back. Almost 1/3 of college students do not work in the summer, and many take a “gap year” after graduating. Many foreign students with debt are fleeing the country. And-colleges are still offering nonsense degrees like Women Studies, Equity, Ancient Greek, Advertising, French Literature, and even High School Football Coaching, Online classes encourage laziness and cheating. Trade schools should be booming and supported.
  4. Idleness-young people like working from home 5-6 hours a day. Smoking weed makes you lazy, same with video gaming (job hunting activity declines by 35% when the new “Call of Duty” is released). Door Dash is so easy and costly, credit card debt is at record levels. Young people use online grocery shopping and home delivery, Uber, valet parking, and their favorite term is “Add to Cart.” Young people do not even dress. I see many in pajamas and slippers. E-Bikes do not require pedaling,
  5. Squalor-living in unclean places. Directly related to income, idleness and laziness. Rent control accelerates poor conditions, high crime areas are often in the poorest neighborhoods so lockup the criminals and cleanup the streets.

Of course, this is an oversimplification, but these points are valid.

PS-The national teachers unions could play a significant role impacting the above. Instead, their focus and money is directed to politics and getting Democrats elected. The NEA donated $23 million to Democrats last year. Not one $$ to a Republican candidate. And-they spent $3 million in lobbying efforts.

Newsome and AOC on Foreign Policy

February 15, 2026

” Foreign policy is like hitting a baseball; if you fail 70% of the time you go to the Hall of fame.” Robert Kagan, American Historian, Author, Columnist and Foreign Policy Analyst.

Unfortunately, Gov. Newsome and the Congresswoman traveled to Germany last week to learn about foreign policy. They went to the Munich Security Conference. The MSC is held annually with over 70 western countries and allies attending to discuss global security issues. Newsome and AOC do not have any experience regarding foreign policy, and neither were briefed by the US State Department about currents affairs. They lacked experience and intel, and an education regarding geography.

Their trip was a political stunt, as both have aspirations toward winning the White House in 2028. AOC is a self-declared socialist and quite ignorant. She once said the world will end in 9 years. That was 8 years ago. Newsome is running the State of California. Sadly, that state has the majority of US homelessness, the highest taxes, a budget deficit of $20 billion and is under investigation for welfare fraud. Additionally, California received one half of all disaster relief $$$’s from the US Government last year totaling $63 billion. He just can’t stop forest fires.

AOC made speeches criticizing the US. She didn’t know where Venezuela is located. She criticized President Trump for his actions against Maduro. And worse-when asked about US sending military troops to Taiwan, she fumbled and bumbled her answer. She is just plain stupid. And she embarrassed the US. A couple of years ago AOC had some media training that suggested she wear glasses to make herself look more intelligent and move her head and hands a certain way to look pensive. Pitiful!

It is never acceptable for US Government officials to travel to other countries and criticize the US and/or the sitting President. Newsome and AOC are hacks! Both embarrassed the Unites States.

Special Note to my Readers-for Black History Month read works from Maya Angelou. She was an incredible Black Woman. A poet, author and civil rights activist. Her early novel “I know why the Caged Bird Sings” was a remarkable story about her early years. My favorite quote from her is “Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.”

Illegal Alien Kills 15-year-old girl!

February 6,2026

“I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigration.” Hillary Clinton, Former US Senator and US Secretary of State.

I cannot read accounts of the story below without getting furious. This posting is my first article about criminal illegal aliens and their victims. The young 15-year-old girl shown below is Amber Paris. She was killed by Julio Cesar Xocop-Vincente, shown below. He is from Guatemala and in the US illegally.

These stories must be told!

According to the arrest records, Xocop-Vincente was speeding and ran through a stop sign in a residential neighborhood and struck Paris while she was riding her bicycle. After striking Paris, this criminal fled the scene. Paris laid on the ground with two broken legs, a severed artery and severe internal injuries. She died in the hospital two weeks later. The accident occurred on November 24 last year.

Xocop-Vincente was charged with felony hit-and-run, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle without a license. This killer was allowed to post a $10,000 bond and was released. What is hell is wrong with our local justice system???

On January 12th, ICE started removal proceedings. According to ICE records, this killer had previously been charged with speeding, driving while impaired, and driving without a license. Why was he not in jail? Police records also show a domestic violence case against Xocop-Vincente. This killer should have been in jail!

The death of Amber Paris is tragic and was 100% preventable. Our local government failed to protect this 15-year-old girl. Furiously maddening.

Ecuador-Violent Gangs and Murders

February 3, 2026

“Journalists describe purveyors of self-help books as gurus because they can’t spell charlatans.” Peter Drucker, Business Consultant and Author.

Ecuador is about the size of Arizona. This Latin American country has 18 million people. The capital is Quito, with a population of 3 million people. Daniel Noboa is the President. The main industry in Ecuador is oil production and bananas. And arguably illegal drugs.

Ecuador is located along the Pacific Ocean between Peru and Columbia. The largest producers of cocaine in the world are in Peru and Columbia. The port city of Guayaquil (see map) is a major hub for drug trafficking and of course, violent crime.

Ecuador is the most dangerous major country in the world. The murder rate is 45.7 per 100,000 people. The United States is 5.7. Last year there were 9,216 murders in Ecuador which was up by 30% over the previous year. Gang violence is the main reason for the high murder rate.

Yet for 4 straight years, the Biden Administration allowed men from Ecuador to enter our country unvetted.

Haiti is also very dangerous with a murder rate of 41.1 per 100,000 people. Guatemala is also ranked high with a murder rate of 21.3 murders per 100,000 people. And Honduras recorded a murder rate of 31.4. These are all very dangerous countries. Same with Mexico.

The most dangerous government related event since 9/11 was the unvetted mass migration across our southern border mostly from these dangerous countries. Trump is right. We must find the criminals!

SC College Football Coach’s Salaries

January 30, 2026

What sets disciplined people apart? -The capacity to get past distractions. Focus on the task at hand.” NFL Coach Bill Parcells

It is a sad fact that the highest paid public employees in most US states are college coaches. See chart below. Either men’s football or basketball coaches. Not the president of a university, or dean of the law/med school. Or the Governor or Attorney General.

At the University of South Carolina, the head football coach is paid $8.2 million a year. The average salary of tenured professors at USC is $175,000.

The college football season is 16 weeks long including a month of conditioning. Of course, the coach has many other duties in the off season but perhaps college coaching is not a full time 50weeks/year job.

The salaries of all the coaches are outrageous. USC has 11 football coaches. The assistant coaches will make $10 million combined. Here is the list of those coaches and salaries:

Defensive Coordinator Clayton White-$2 million

-Offensive Coordinator Kendal Briles-$2 million

Co-Defensive Coordinator and DB Coach Torrian Gray- $1 million

Special Teams Coordinator Joe Decamillis- $850,000

Running Backs Coach Stan Drayton-$775,000

-Run Game Coordinator/Tigh Ends Coach Shawn Elliott-$775,000

Offensive Line Coach Randy Clements-$725,000

DB and Outside LB Coach Deion Barnes-$675,000

Passing Game Coordinator and WR Coach Mike Furrey-$650,000

-Defensive Line Coach Travian Robertson-$550,000

It is noteworthy that Barnes and Robertson had very poor NFL careers, drafted in the late rounds, assigned to practice squads, waived after one year from 2-3 teams. Wonder how these 2 can coach football?

The lowest paid coach, Robertson, makes 2X the pay of the current Governor of South Carolina!!!! Madness!

The Head Coach, Beamer is making $8 million this year. When hired in 2021 his salary was $2,75 million. So, his salary has gone up 200% in 5 years. Wow! That’s amazing considering the USC football team went 4-8 in 2025.

In Case You Missed It!

January 27, 2026

“Socialism has no moral justification whatsoever; poor people are not morally superior to rich people, nor are they owed anything by rich people simply because of their lack of success.” Ben Shapiro-lawyer, author, journalist.

–California has allowed unvetted, illegal migrant truck drivers to drive 18 wheelers. Last year an unvetted truck driver from California attempted a U turn on an 4-lane road in Florida. See image below. The driver was in this country illegally and could not read English. Three people were killed instantly.

–Earlier this month about 700 NC public school teachers did not show up to teach. They were on the streets protesting what they call “low pay.” So, 19,600 public school students did not have their teacher that day. Shame on these teachers. The current average pay for teachers in NC is $58,000 plus 38% for great benefits or a total comp. of $80,100 and they only work 175 days (35 weeks) a year. If these people worked 48 weeks, then their annual pay plus benefits would be $109,800. Wow!

–South Carolina and North Carolina are experiencing record number of measles cases. Measles is a highly contagious sickness with symptoms of high fever sometimes over 104F, cough and congestion. Measles has been controlled for years with vaccinations for children. The problem is undocumented and unvaccinated people entering the country. The worse measles outbreak is in SW Texas. Can You imagine sending your 1st grader to school to be in a class with undocumented/unvaccinated kids? This is a serious matter!

–For the last 45 years the US Federal and state governments have spent an average of $67 billion annually on disaster damages. Of course these are mostly hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and wildfires. last year the total disaster damages were $115 billion with a whopping $68 billion in damages in LA due to wildfires. Federal investigators found gross negligence in LA regarding preparedness, the deployment of firefighters and equipment, empty water hydrants and dry main water reservoirs. Sadly, LA had 80+ large pieces of firefighting equipment in the repair shop when the wildfires started. Sixteen thousand buildings were destroyed and 33+ people died. The mayor of LA, Karen Bass, was in Ghana. I think the US government should provide disaster relief, but not to areas year after year that do not properly prepare.

–In 2025 the US experienced 111 fatalities of law enforcement personnel while on the job. This is the lowest number of deaths reported since 1943. Experts are crediting better training, equipment, the adoption of best practices and the emphasis on physical and mental health as the main reason for lower deaths. Of the 111 deaths, 102 were men and 9 were women. Data on injuries is not available. Law enforcement is a dangerous profession.

Stupid People

January 5, 2026

If it is government’s role is to make all people equal, then the government will have to treat people unequally. Self

Do not waste your time dealing with stupid people. Don’t hire them, play with them, argue with them, help them or try to convince them. They are stupid and unchangeable. You can always spot a stupid person because they lack many important mental characteristics. Here are just a few:

-they are close minded, not open to new ideas, even impatient

-very poor listening skills

-they are impulsive

-they have no intellectual curiosity

-stupid people often have trouble regulating their emotions. They get angry.

-they never learn from mistakes

-they have zero problem solving skills

-they hate change

-stupid people can’t understand abstract concepts or different perspectives

-and lastly, stupid people are often overconfident. Ugh!

If you run across a person that displays 2-3 of the above traits, just walk away and find better people!

In case you missed it!

December 24, 2025

“It took centuries of intellectual, philosophical development to achieve political freedom…The individual was not left at the mercy of his neighbors or his leaders: the Constitutional system of checks and balances was scientifically devised to protect him from both.” Ayn Rand, Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal, 1986. Russian born author and playwright.

In the very near future, companies will begin using facial recognition to hire employees. AI software is being developed to spot desired job characteristics among potential candidates. Recent reports indicate AI can discern conscientiousness, openness, neuroticism and other factors helping employers to select the best fit for their teams. Sounds great to me. I would screen for laziness and arrogance.

After months of negotiations the EU and America have reach an agreement on tariffs. The agreement will eliminate EU tariffs on many US products and require the EU to purchase $750 billion in US energy products. And-the agreement includes $600 billion of investment from the EU into the US. Wow!!!

North Carolina State University is playing its season opener football game in Brazil. The game will be on August 29th, 2026, against UVa. The game will be played in Rio de Janeiro. Can you imagine the cost involved in taking the entire team and Staff to Brazil for 6-7 days? The trip will take about 20 hours and cost $1,500/person for airfare. Whose idea was this? Why? What about the student body and fans. They will miss this game. And think about the loss of revenue in Raleigh/Charlottesville. And lastly, what about security. This is a very bad idea for a taxpayer supported school.

Affordable housing” is always in the news. Not enough housing for all the new residents. And units cost more than can be afforded by low-income households. The published data is very clear. Of course, there are several solutions offered by many, but one solution is always missing-reduce immigration into the area. The data show mass immigration has contributed about 10-15% to the housing problem. Same with schools being crowded, and teacher shortages.

See article below. A very newsworthy article in the local paper. Women have formed a lowrider club, whatever the hell that is! Another major gain for women’s rights. I guess men are excluded. I really appreciate the local “fishwrap” keeping me informed about all the important issues. Madness!

Roy Cooper, a Democrat, was governor of NC for 8 years, 2017-2025. Prior to that, he served as Attorney General for 8 years. During Cooper’s 8 years as governor, he vetoed 129 bills passed by the State Legislature. Cooper was an obstructionist. Worse, during his time as governor, 2021 to 2024, the State Dept. of Health and Human Services was late in issuing $83 million in SNAP benefits to low-income families. This work is simple, processing SNAP applications and issuing federal and state payments. In several NC counties, as many as 20-25% of the food aid was late. The DHHS was cited several times and agreed to take corrective action but was delinquent in doing so! Cooper should have handled this mess.

Lessons I learned from my Father!

December 17, 2025

“Boldness of enterprise is the foremost cause of its rapid progress, its strength and its greatness.” Alexis de Tocqueville- in reference to American innovation and the American Spirit.

Both my parents died on New Year’s Eve. My Dad died in 1998. My Mother died in 2007. The Christmas Holidays have never been a happy time for me.

My Dad and I were very close. From the time I was 6 years old I was by my father’s side doing everything. My Dad was an excellent woodworker, DIY’er, gardener, golfer, bowler, auto mechanic, and natural born leader. He was a bomber pilot in WWll, flew 38 missions. My Dad never spoke about his time in the 8th Air Force.

My Dad worked rotating shifts (more money) at a chemical plant in the Shenandoah Valley, Va. For most of that time he was a supervisor. My parents raised 6 children.

I think about my dad often and reflect on the lessons I learned from him. Here are just a few:

  1. You don’t have to curse to be a man. It is ok to have a drink but do so in moderation.
  2. Take care of what you own. Cars, house, yard, shrubs, clothes, tools, and yourself.
  3. Look your best. Wear decent clothes, shine your shoes, shave, eat proper food and exercise.
  4. When you are unsure, ask for advice. It is ok!
  5. Treat all people with respect and with fairness. Do not judge people harshly. My dad spoke the same way to his crew as he did to his boss. And-do not miss work. Be on time.
  6. Take your wife out on a date at least once a month. My parents liked to dance!
  7. Read the newspaper, books and watch the news. Try hard to be informed.
  8. Thank people that have helped you. Visit and care for your parents and sibling.
  9. Speak calmly, don’t exaggerate, and never shout to make your point.
  10. Save your money.

My dad smoked for 50+ years and died from lung disease. He was 81.

Media Bias and Falsehoods!

December 7, 2025

“A single lie discovered is enough to create doubt in every truth expressed.” Author unknown

The article shown below appeared in the Charlotte, NC “fish wrap” this week. It covered almost a whole page. This article represents an excellent example of bias journalism. The article was based on a “study” conducted in 2019! Really?

Black families do not pay more for electricity than White, Asian or Hispanic families. Electric rates are set by the State government, the North Carolina Utilities Commission.

On a city street with 40-50 houses all families pay exactly the same usage rate. Period. The above article implies that “redlining neighborhoods” which was banned 1968 causes Black families to pay more. Hogwash! The rates are set by the State.

Electric bills as a % of income do change between Blacks and Whites. Black household income averages about $53,000/year across the US, while the overall national income is $78,000 per household. So, Blacks do pay a higher % of their income for energy. That’s just plain mathematics! Black income is lower due to the overwhelming number of single women households. The majority (75%) of White households have dual incomes (two wage earners). Asian incomes and Hispanic incomes are close to the national income.

It is true that Blacks rent houses and apartments in larger numbers, and landlords might not keep the rental property in great shape. And Black households may live in older, less energy efficient houses.

The article uses the term “energy injustice” in bold print. Costs for energy/electricity are not racially biased. It is not injustice, it’s just math. Redlining neighborhoods did exist in the 1930’s. Lenders at the Federal and state level did charge higher mortgage rates for residents of poorer neighborhoods. That practice was based on bill collection default data but was declared illegal in 1968, almost 57 years ago. And rightly so!

Lastly, low-income households qualify for many energy assistance programs at the Federal and state level including Comprehensive Energy Assistance, Low Income Energy Assistance, Weatherization Assistance, and the Crisis Intervention Program. To be more accurate these payments should be included in the mathematics!

St. Louis-What a terrible city!

December 1, 2025

” The appetite for applause counts amongst the lowest human character traits.” Jan-Willem van der Rijt, Dutch philosopher.

The city of St. Louis, Missouri has a population of 285,000 people. The population has been declining for years. See example chart below. In the 1950’s the city had 850,00+ people.

The city of St. Louis has been run by Democrats since 1949. Every single mayor since 1949 has been a Democrat. This year the Board of Aldermen has 28 people, all Democrats. This is incredible. Not one single Republican on the Board of Aldermen.

Below is a picture of the recently elected mayor of St. Louis. Cara Spencer is 47 years old, divorced with one child. Not sure of her qualifications for the job. Her internet profile is “thin.” It does not appear she has any managerial or leadership experience. As mayor she will earn $144,000 per year. Spencer was elected this year. So far, she is focusing on repairing potholes and parking areas. To be fair, she has proposed pay increases for first responders and police.

Sadly, the city of St. Louis has a terrible crime problem. The city is ranked 3rd most dangerous for violent crime in the US. Only Memphis and Oakland have higher crime rates. Oakland has never had a Republican mayor. Memphis is run by the Democrats. St. Louis has a big problem with street racing. Recently, the police impounded 50+ cars. But the city impound lot lost track of $5 million worth of these cars. An investigation is ongoing. How do you lose 100’s of cars?? Currently the police force has 150 vacancies, about 25% of the force.

Interestingly, of the top 100 major cities in the US, 78 have Democrat mayors.

St. Louis also has low performing schools. See chart below. St Louis students, grades 3-8, score only 21% on average in English Language Arts national testing. And those scores are declining. The city of St. Louis has most of the lowest rated schools in Missouri, elementary through high school. Academic achievement and graduation rates are lowest in St. Louis.

Harris-Stowe State University is located in St. Louis. The school has 1,005 students and is ranked very low compared to other HBCU schools. The school has a graduation rate of 12%. That school should be closed. Money wasted!

Lastly, the city of St. Louis has a debt of $900 million, earning the city a grade “D’ in financial management. The tax burden (debt) for every resident of St. Louis is calculated at $9.800 on average. Cara Spencer will have to make tough, drastic decisions. Her biggest financial decision will be eliminating the “rich” pension scheme for city employees. That must be done. The private sector addressed that issue 15-20 years ago. City leaders say St. Louis is still recovering from Covid! Bull!

The N.E.A. is not a labor union

“You can teach a person all you know, but only experience will convince him that what you say is true.” Richelle E. Goodrich-American author

The N.E.A. is America’s largest teacher “union.” They are headquartered in Washington, D.C. They represent about 2.8 million teachers and support staff. Dues for the teachers are $215 per year. The N.E.A. has annual operating budget of $399 million with an endowment fund of $428 million. One of the N.E.A.’s biggest social programs is LBGTQ “rights” and “pronouns.”

Last year the N.E.A. spent $23 million endorsing and supporting political campaigns. About 98% of that money went to Democrats. Can you imagine that? Do they truly represent all their dues-paying members??? More recently the N.E. A has come under scrutiny for their stance against school choice, School vouchers, merit pay, the promotion of gay rights, standing against disciplinary actions on teachers and promoting racial ideology in schools.

Also, last year the N.E.A corporate Staff went on strike. Over 300 corporate staff employees were locked out and lost pay. One of the strike issues was the N.E.A.’s increasing use of outside contractors, or outsourcing work. Labor unions never outsource work! Madness!

The PISA chart below ranks the top 40 countries in scholastic achievement in math, science and reading. Combining all three subjects the US is slightly below the average. Sadly, the US ranks 34th in math. The PISA is a worldwide test given to 15-year-olds. It is designed to measure the effectiveness of the educational systems of each country.

I would like to see the N.E.A. establish a measurable goal of improving the PISA ranking, especially in math. This should be the N.E.A.’s top priority, and the “union” should not be directing so much effort to so many social programs. Currently the N.E.A is a political action organization and on the wrong side of so many issues,

PS-Rebecca Pringle is the N.E.A president. Her current salary is $545,000!

Professional football or not!

November 24, 2025

“Passion is what makes life interesting, what ignites our soul, fuels our love and carries our friendships, stimulates our intellect and pushes our limits.” Pat Tillman NFL legend and U.S. Army Ranger.

I watched the Eagles vs Cowboys game yesterday. I tape the games and then fast forward through the nauseating commercials and mindless commentary by the same old broadcasters.

The NFL claims to be about “professional football.” But how can that be? During yesterday’s game the officials called 22 penalties, 14 on the Eagles who ended up losing the game. The Eagles are the defending champions from last season’s Super Bowl. UGH!

The penalties on both teams show the lack of adhering to the rules of football. It is maddening to watch teams committing penalties like lining up in the neutral zone, offsides, holding, delay of game, illegal formation, illegal shift, too many players on the field, hands to the face, pass interference, offsides, running into the kicker, unsportsmanlike conduct, taunting, and excessive celebration.

Twenty-two times yesterday the officials stopped game because of penalties. Do the players not understand the rules? Are players just undisciplined? Do they care? See below. This chart shows penalties called last year by the top offenders. Maddening!

And even worse, see chart below. Great scoring plays getting erased by stupid penalties.

The NFL is not about professional football. Too many dumb mistakes. and many repeated!

Finally, players are spitting on each other. Star receiver Ja’Marr Chase with the Cincinnati Bengals has been suspended for spitting on an opposing player. That player was ejected for punching Chase. Is this really professional football?

My thoughts on I.C.E.

November 21, 2025

“If a state or nation has laws it will not enforce for political reasons, it mocks both the law and politics to say nothing about cultural order.” Cal Thomas, American syndicated columnist and author.

The Democratic Party under President Joe Biden opened the US. southern border. I saw the videos for four years. That reckless choice was driven by the pursuit of votes. Millions of men (mostly) entered the US without any vetting. Biden even transported these men to many US cities via aircraft and buses. Local governments did not even know they were coming. Reports from several Federal agencies indicate among these millions of illegal immigrants were 1000’s of hardened criminals and suspected terrorists.

President Trump’s campaign promise was to “clean up this mess.” So, The US Department of Homeland Security-Immigration and Customs Enforcement is arresting criminal illegal immigrants. Law enforcement officers are going from city to city arresting criminals. The Democrats oppose this and have organized protests to block law enforcement’s efforts. I find this maddening. Do the Democrats object to arresting criminals or are they opposed to the methods used??? Do the Democrats have a better idea??

In Charlotte, NC this past week, law enforcement officials arrested 200+ criminal illegal immigrants in 4 days. Criminal records of those arrested include gang members (terrorist groups), aggravated assault, possession of dangerous weapon, felony larceny, assault, hit and run, possession of stolen goods, shoplifting, DUI, DWI, and illegal entry after deportation. At least 2 of those arrested were members of MS-13.

Do the Democrats want these criminals in Charlotte to be left alone? If I committed the crime of hit and run, the local law enforcement officials would hunt me down. I say Charlotte is a safer place now.

By the way, Charlotte’s local police officials supported I.C.E efforts to enter the city.

Also, and related, the Biden Administration lost over 30,000+ illegal immigrant children during those 4 years. I am glad I.C.E is tracking them down and removing them from harm.

My thoughts this Week

November 15, 2025

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” Sir Walter Scott, 1808.

-People that use profanity while speaking are low class. I hear it all the time on TV shows, news broadcasts, interviews, and speeches. The F bomb is used often. They think it’s “cool.” Or they think it’s funny. Same with internet posts and pod casts. I place much more importance on people who use excellent grammar and word selections. I also dislike name calling by our leaders. Trump and the Democrats should stop that. It serves no purpose.

Antonio Brown was arrested for attempted murder in Florida. The police report indicates Brown grabbed a security guard’s gun during a fight after a Miami event and fired multiple shots at another man.

Brown’s trouble with the law includes charges of sexual assault, sexual misconduct, reckless driving, unpaid medical fees, trespassing, felony battery, burglary of a vehicle, criminal mischief, sexual exposure, domestic violence, failure to pay child support, eviction from a hotel, and now second degree attempted murder. Once, Brown threw a piece of furniture out the window of a 14th story apartment!!!

Brown has 7 children by 4 different women; none married to Brown. During his NFL career he earned $80+ million. In May of 2024 Brown file for bankruptcy.

Pew Research indicates that NC has 160,000 K-12 students with at least 1 undocumented “parent.” The study also indicates a growing portion of the students are undocumented. The situation is messy with no real easy solution. ICE is arresting illegal immigrants, especially criminals. If these people have children, then they have put their families at risk. ICE can’t grant illegal immigrants a pass just because they have children. The laws are not written that way. This is a mess created by Joe Biden. President Trump is trying hard to clean it up!

Charlotte NC area includes 7 counties. A new report indicates the median house price is $443,800. To afford this house price (30% of household gross income) the household income would have to be $146,000. Most households cannot afford that price tag. White household median income is $107,000. Black household median income is $56,000, mainly because these are single mother households, many working part-time. Most of the white families have dual incomes. And-illegal immigrants have contributed 10%-15% to the demand for housing. It’s almost a perfect storm. The ongoing clash is building more low-income housing units in nicer neighborhoods. Changing zoning laws to accommodate the construction of high-density housing. As an economist, I say the issue is mostly an income problem. and the root of that issue is education and family structure. Of course, the problem is not that simple!

Lastly, reports indicate NC public K-12 teachers in ESL are overwhelmed. Another immigration problem. The school system has to spend millions teaching basic English to children of illegal immigrants. Since $$$$’s are not unlimited, resources are being diverted to ESL and not to teaching math and science. NC ranks 34th in the US in education. That’s the truth.

Genocide in Sudan-again!

November 11, 2025

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men that died, rather we should thank God that such men lived.” General George S. Patton

The Sudan has 53 million people, almost 7 million in the capital, Khartoum. Tragically, the country has a long history of murder and ethnic cleansing. Essentially, the conflict is between Black Africans and Islamist militant groups. In 2003, the Islamic fighters slaughtered thousands of Black natives. Men were butchered, women raped and children slaughtered by the thousands. No one really knows how many people were killed. Some UN agencies say 200,000 to 300,000 people were killed.

Most of the conflict was in the Darfur area of the Sudan. See map above. This week, the World Health Organization is reporting another massacre in the city of al-Fashir, northern Darfur. A militant group known as RSF gained control of the city and murdered 1,500 non-Arab civilians. And-these militants murdered 460 patients, family members and medical workers in a al-Fashir maternity hospital!!!

The RSF is a murderous Islamic terrorist organization. Below is a picture of the group and the leader

What will the United Nations do??

I will continue to monitor this situation and report updates.

US Presidents and Deportation

November 2, 2025

“I’m not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat.” Will Rogers

The above graph says it all. Obama was the “Deporter and Chief.” look at the difference between Obama and Biden. Correctly, Obama used “expedited” methods of expulsion, no hearings, and orders to Federal agents to use coercion and other methods to remove illegal immigrants.

Over the last 100+ years the US government issued 58 million deportation orders, most were for self-deportation. Why not just secure the borders???

About 30 years ago, the governor of California, Pete Wilson, Republican, passed legislation named Proposition 87 which denied illegal immigrants public services. This included medical care and education. The goal was self-deportation.

Now Trump is doing the same. Self-deportation does work. In less than 200 days, 1.6 million illegal immigrants have left the US, many with a $1000 and a free plane ride.

Unfortunately, and criminally, Biden enabled 12+ million unvetted aliens from 150+ countries to enter the US. We all saw the videos at the southern border. Of course, the American people want all the criminals removed. If that means many others get caught up in the removal process, so be it!

And-anyone interfering with Federal employees engaged in the deportation process should be arrested and charged with a felony. Period.

“The essential notion of a capitalistic society is voluntary cooperation, voluntary exchange. The essential notion of a socialist society is force.” Economist Milton Friedman

I read an article about Gen Zer’s. They are complaining about the lack of credit. One young woman was denied a bank credit card. She had no job and thus no income. The bank was doing her a favor.

The NBA started its season. The Charlotte Hornets won their first game. The score was 136 to 117. Where was the defense? A total of 253 points were scored by both teams. about 1 point every 5 minutes of game time.

Whooping cough is a very contagious infection that spreads by coughing on others. The disease is particularly dangerous to infants and young children. The State of NC recorded 600+ cases in 2024, the highest number of cases in 70 years and 6X the number of cases in 2023. Why?? The reason is simple children are not getting vaccinated. That is the law in NC. I am guessing that these cases are highest among illegal immigrants.

Planned Parenthood has 600 locations in the US. The clinics provided 5 million STI (sexually transmitted infections) tests in 2024, along with other services like abortions and family planning (contraceptives). The current administration has cut the funding for PPH, same with some states. The reason for funding cuts is using taxpayer $$$’s for abortions. I get that, but unwanted pregnancies and births cost a lot more. Find a way to provide these services. “Pay me now-or pay me later.”

Since 1959 Cubans have had “special privileges” for immigration into the US. They fled the Casto regime and were given food, money and medicine. Now, 66 years later Cubans are crossing the US border illegally and asking for “special treatment.” Biden granted Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans special privileges for entry into the US. Trump has changed that, and many are being caught and deported. Interestingly, Cuba won’t take these illegal immigrants back!!!

Lastly, England has become a world leader in stolen property. In 2024 England had 130,00 vehicles stolen and 70,00 stolen cell phones. Most of the thefts are done by crime syndicates, highly organized criminal enterprises. Stolen cars and trucks are shipped to Africa, mostly to DRC. Phones go to China. Auto Insurance rates a high in England. Police investigate but only solve 5% of these cases. Pitiful!

Charlotte Light Rail and DEI

October 16, 2025

“Cognitive and character skills work together as dynamic complements; they are inseparable. Skills beget skills. More motivated children learn more. Those who are more informed usually make wiser decisions.” Dr. James Heckman, Noble Prize-winning economist.

The whole world knows that a young woman was brutally stabbed to death on the Charlotte light rail. The suspect is named Decarlos Brown. See picture below.

Brown should not have been a free man. He was federally charge back in September for committing an act causing a death on the rail system. He should have been in prison. Magistrate Judge Teresa Stokes, see picture below, released him. Brown had been arrested on felony charges 14 times prior. Judge Stokes is not a lawyer. She was appointed under DEI policies, she should be fired.

Also, NC State Auditor, David Boliek found serious problems with Charlotte’s light rail security operations. The security services were outsourced to a company which was selected out of 8 different companies based on DEI principles. The city of Charlotte wanted more minority contractors.

So–a DEI appointed judge, without a law degree or any formal education let a criminal with 14 prior arrests out without bail and a minority selected security firm provided the protection for passengers. Charlotte Mayor Vi lyles needs to go!!!

Mayor Lyle

This whole story makes me very angry. I am going to write to my US Senators.

In Case you Missed it!

September 21, 2025

As of 2024, the global economy (GDP) is $114 trillion. The US is $30+ trillion or 27% of the world’s economy.

Lululemon sells high end sportswear sometimes called “athleisure wear.” The retail chain has 750 stores in 25 countries, with almost 3/4 sales coming from US sales. Much of their products are made in Vietnam. This year the company is experiencing declining sales and a huge decline (45%) in share price. What’s wrong? Lululemon does not advertise, new products are unpopular, baggy clothes are fashionable, price slashing sent the wrong message, and their products are easy to counterfeit. I like their “pool slides.”

ICE raided a Hyundai plant in Georgia. The plant is under construction and being built by non-US workers. Four hundred and fifty workers were detained, most from South Korea. Many had no visas, no work permits, expired tourism visas, and no Social Security numbers. How is this possible? Liberals are criticizing ICE and blaming Trump. How did these workers get into the US??? Madness!

A new study has confirmed that the cost of insurance for EV’s is a whooping 49% higher than gas-powered vehicles. The average insurance cost for EV’s is $4,058 compared to $2,732 for gas cars. Wow! The reasons-EV’s cost more, damage easier, and cost more to repair.

The above photo is Wayne Goodwin, DMV leader for NC. He recently resigned. During his tenure the average wait times at DMV facilities rose to 75 minutes, once you get into the building. NC spent $20 million on a consulting agreement to develop improvement ideas. Most were poorly implemented and/or left unfinished. Former governor, Roy Cooper did little to fix any problems. I wrote a 3-page letter to our Sec. of Transportation with all my “process improvement” ideas. I did hear back with assurance my ideas were being reviewed. One final observation-at my local DMV the employees seem slow acting, slow talking, slow moving with little concern about the long lines. This is a management issue.

Zero-sum thinking is the new political phrase. Some people believe that rich people gained their wealth at the expense of poorer people. They think some groups are being held back and thus a government intervention like Affirmative Action, is needed. “I win; you lose.” Some believe immigrants are taking jobs from citizens and clogging schools and hospitals. Some believe international students are filling classrooms spaces, and that resources are scarce, etc. However, most notable economists assert that resources are indeed scarce and thus must be allocated by merit. Economists also know that a strong economy is the best way to pull people out of poverty. Moving $$$’s from one group to another (redistribution) does not work.

Lastly, I find it tragic that state, county and city leaders “allow” many public schools to be underperforming, especially year after year. Third graders, eight graders and HS seniors can’t read or do math. The students fail proficiency exams in reading and math. Yet, these same leaders are the first to “push” policies that grant these students admission to colleges without regard to their academic qualifications. Then, the students borrow $$$$’s and enroll and fail miserably.

On September 14th the NYG played the Cowboys in the NFL. It was supposed to be professional football. But the NYG were penalized 14 times for a total of 160 yards. One player, Hudson, was called for 4 penalties in the first Giant possession. Poor quality entertainment.

Charlotte NC is buying a Nightclub! Madness!

September 12, 2025

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” Benjamin Franklin

The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County are planning to invest $3 million to build a new nightclub. The developer claims the place will be a modern “juke joint.” Whatever the hell that is!

The proposed location is the site of a dilapidated Black nightclub built in 1944 which will be torn down. The total cost of the new nightclub will be $8 million. The builder is asking the local government to pay 37% of the cost with an estimated 1% return on investment.

Our local leaders are considering the purchase. At the same time, the city has a shortage of affordable housing. Perhaps families can live at the nightclub???

How can the city of Charlotte even consider owning a nightclub? Is the city in the entertainment business? This is madness!

I wish Colin Kaepernick would go Away!

August 22, 2025

“Every heart beats true beneath the Red, White and Blue.” George M. Cohan -Playwright, Composer of more than 50 plays and 300 songs.

We all know what happened to Colin Kaepernick! During his brief time as starting QB, he sat and kneeled during the playing of our National Anthem. Kaepernick signed a 6-year contract with SF for $126 million, $60 million guaranteed. Yet, the fool protested unfair treatment of Blacks.

Kaepernick played 6 years in the NFL. His record was 37 Wins, 32 losses. He opted out of his contract with the SF 49ers in 2016.. No other team would sign him. We all know why. The NFL ticket holders and TV viewing audience want to watch football, not protests, and certainly not unpatriotic acts by QBs. Kaepernick’s GF called the owner of the Baltimore Ravens a “slave owner” and called the players his slaves.

Recently, Spike Lee has made a mini-series about Kaepernick. But no network or streaming service wants to buy it. I agree with that……who would watch.

Britain has new rules on Immigration

August 16, 2025

“Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.” Wayne Gretzky, Hall of Fame Hockey Great.

Finally, the Brits have awakened. They have a new PM, his name is Sir Keir Starmer. See his picture below.

The new PM has proposed new laws to thwart immigration. It’s about time!!! See chart above. Note that the UK experienced 45,700 small boat migrant crossings in 2024.

The major new laws are:

-Reduce the student visa work time limits

-Raise the skill requirements for work entry. This is a big change. Immigrants must be able to support themselves with skills attractive in the job market.

-English language required for migrant and spouse

-Cut abuses to the system, punish violators and thoroughly vet all applicants.

-Settlement time requirement moved from 5 years to 10 years.

Britain is slow to act. Perhaps these will stop the flow of illegal immigrants. Their NHS medical system is broken! They should have seen this coming 10 years ago.

No more $$$’s for Haiti

August 12, 2025

“The inmates are running the asylum.” William G. McAdoo-politician circa 1915

Haiti has become a criminal enterprise says an international UN official. Gangs now control the country. The capital, Port-au-Prince is under the control of terrorist gangs. All the major ports are under the control of gangs.

Haiti’s major airport is closed. Schools are closed. diseases like cholera are prevalent. Videos show criminal gangs playing football with severed heads.

Haiti has a population of 11.8 million. Most are descendants of Black Sub-Sahara African slaves. The island is shared with the Dominican Republic and is 670 miles from Miami. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. See map below. Haiti has very little natural resources, the trees have been cut down, a small amount of land is arable.

The UN Security Council wants to send in private miliary contractors to restore order. The US has already committed $600 million. Can you imagine where that money is going?

Where is the UN and funding for Haiti? Why do the US taxpayers have to pay the $600 million to restore the island? Haiti has never been a country of laws, peace and prosperity.

Finally-the US should not accept migrants from that country. No way to properly vet the people.

Unaccompanied Minors

August 8, 2025

” There is a special place in hell for those who abuse children.” Self

A hearing was held in Washington by the House Subcommittee on Federal Law enforcement. The DHS Inspector testified that the Biden administration lost track of 448,000 migrant children, almost 100,000 under the age of 12. This is a tragedy of the highest order.

According to testimony, many of the children were released to “sponsors” but the government had no way of tracking the sponsors, confirming the appropriateness of the sponsors or the location. Over 300,000 did not show up for their immigration court date.

Recent investigations by the Trump administration revealed that many “sponsors” recorded incomplete addresses, had no family relationship to the children, and housed multiple children without oversight. Hundreds of the “sponsors” have now been arrested for immigration fraud and child endangerment.

Biden’s DHS officials claimed they did not have the manpower to track all these children, so they just released them. Why didn’t they close the border? Month after month for almost 4 years, thousands of children showed up at our border. How did they get there? Where are they from? Where are they now?

DHS Secretary Mayorkas should be arrested!

The Trump administration has to clean up this despicable situation which is an embarrassment to the US. And-currently, the Democrats are criticizing Trump for his cleanup methods. I say find these children and make them safe.

Dem. Senator convicted!

August 6, 2025

“There is no crime that cannot be traced back to the love of money.” Robert Louis Stevenson

This week, Democratic Senator Nicole Mitchell (see photo below) was convicted of first-degree burglary and felony possession of burglary tools. She tried to break into her stepmother’s house.

Apparently, Mitchell was dressed in black, carried a pry bar, flashlight, ninja gloves and drove 230 miles in the middle of the night to break into the house. She told police she was just checking on her stepmother. During the trial, it was alleged she was trying to get her late father’s CD’s and bank accounts. She was discovered by her stepmother while crawling on the floor in the bedroom.

Mitchell is 51 years old. She spent many years as a “weathergirl” on several local TV shows and served admirably in the Air National Guard. Her current rank is Lt. Col. She was elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2022. She resigned from that senate seat as of August 4th.

She will be sentenced in mid-September. Too bad, she had a good life but now faces a lengthy prison sentence. The bootom line-she tried to steal from her stepmother who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

Madness for the Week!

July 14, 2025

“Westernization, coupled with globalization, has created an affluent and leisured elite, that now gravitates to universities, the media, bureaucracies, and global organizations, all places where wealth is not created, but analyzed, critiqued and lavishly spent.” Victor David Hanson

These are just some of the crazy stories I heard or read about this week:

Ben Mclemore has been convicted of first-degree rape. He played 9 years in the NBA with Portland, The Kings, and others. He was paid a total of $32 million and has a net worth of $15 million. Now he’s going to prison. A special thanks to the U.S. Marshal Service for the arrest.

Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, D-NJ, (above) has been indicted by the grand jury for assaulting a federal law enforcement officer. She has 3 counts against her including assault, resisting, and interfering with federal law officers. Two of the counts carry a maximum penalty of 8 years each. No one is above the law!!!

North Carolina has 3,300 registered Catawba Indians. The Catawba Nation is building a $1 billion casino off I-85 near Kings Mountain. Currently, it is the largest construction project between NY and FL and may open by 2027. Wow, where did all the $$$’s come from??? The Nation will be millionaires. Too bad that money did not go to new hospitals, schools, homes and parks.

The Charlotte, NC City Council is made up of idiots. One of the biggest idiots is LaWana Mayfield. She has been in trouble for years. Now-she wants the city to stop buying Tesla cars because of the political views of Tesla owner Elon Musk. Mayfield has been quoted over the years saying she doesn’t believe jets hit the world trade center on 9/11….see how stupid she is? According to her website, she is openly gay and Black and has no formal education. This year she called our police force “homegrown terrorists.”

Johnson C. Smith University (HBCU) has been put on probation by its accreditation agency. The school lacks mgmt that can keep track of spending and borrowing. The president, Ronald Carter, (above) is stepping down after 16 years. In recent years, the school has been plagued by financial troubles, mostly lack of controls and over oversight. Hmmm! Note: parents-send your kids to another school! The 6-year graduation rate at JCMU is 34%! Pitiful.

Lastly, a few US Senators are looking at the federal minimum wage. They are crafting a bill to raise the rate to $15/hr. I wish they would spend their time on other more important matters. Most states already have higher rates. California pays fast food worker $22/hr. Crazy! There is no sound business leader in this country that needs Congress to tell them what to pay workers, nor does Congress know. All economists know that raising minimum wage rates leads to layoffs. Walmart installed self-checkout! McDonalds has kiosk for ordering, doctor offices have online check-ins, etc. We even have drones delivering food orders.

Ending the Minority Contractor Program-Finally!

June 10, 2025

“In countries around the world, the most dramatic reductions in poverty have come from increasing the amount of wealth-rather than from a redistribution of existing wealth.” Dr. Thomas Sowell

Since 1983 the states have been “certifying” minority contractors. Those are companies that are owned, primarily, by Blacks, and women, and get preferential treatment for federal contracts. The state of Georgia has certified 3,500 such companies. Imagine that?

For 43+ years, the federal government has awarded 10% to 20% of contracts to minorities. Contracts for highway builds, repairs to bridges, new sidewalks, culverts, etc were awarded to minorities and women. Companies owned by white men were excluded from consideration. Federal $$$’s were not spent based on experience, skills or financial quotes.

Finally, President Trump is ending the minority program. Now, all sub-contractors will compete based on merit and quality of work. Afterall, if women/minority owned contractors can’t compete on a level playing field after 43 years, then they should not bid for contracts.

News Stories that trigger my Gag Reflex!

June 6, 2025

“The most difficult people to deal with are those individuals that are stupid and arrogant. That combination creates unpleasant and often very nasty people.” Self

Google image

These are just some of the news stories that sour my GI tract:

Jasmine Crockett and AOC are now the leaders of the Democratic party. Both read from scripts prepared by their staffs, neither has built anything, both have ignored their own congressional districts, and together could not operate a McDonald’s franchise.

-US Dept. of Education disclosed that $30 million of student loans and grants went sent to dead people, and another $60 million was sent to ineligible people. These payments occurred over the last 3 years. How does any federal agency receive applications from dead people?

-NC lawmakers are fighting over which flags are allowed to fly over government buildings. Thankfully, the US flag is on the list. Same with the NC state flag and military flags. Of course, the issue was prompted by a group wanting to fly a LGBTQ+ flag.

Liberals are very upset about the arrests of criminal aliens. Apparently, they believe certain places are not appropriate for arrests, like streets, dormitories, churches, family homes, restaurants, or anywhere around family members. Bull. These are very dangerous people and should be removed from our communities. Anytime, anywhere.

-For years, many states have fraudulently inflated Medicaid payments to hospitals so the federal government would reimburse those payments. The states taxed their hospitals and returned the $$$$’s back to them as Medicaid payments so the federal government would reimburse (match) those funds. Shear fraud. When this practice is stopped, the federal government will save $600 billion over ten years.

Starbucks is the world’s biggest coffee chain, with a majority of sales in the US. Last month they reported the 5th consecutive quarter of declining sales. Net profits are down 50%. I know what the problems are-prices are too high, service is too slow. and their corporate social policies were very misguided. And another comment, barista is not a career.

Canada is a member of NATO and is required to spend 2% of its GDP on its military. Currently, Canada spends about 1.3%. The US taxpayers should not bailout Canada.

-High school and college commencement addresses should be inspirational. Graduates should be encouraged to achieve greatness in all fields. And the speeches should be patriotic. We live in the greatest country in the history of the world.

-Boys should not be allowed to compete in girl sports. Everyone knows it. This week a man pitched 7 innings in a girls’ softball championship. Same with track and field. A man won the high jump and triple jump in girl’s state championships. This problem is centered in blue states, run by Democrats. Where are the women’s groups???

These things irritate me!

May 23, 2025

“Anything built by man, can be overcome by man.” General George Patton

Speaking correctly is important. People can understand you better when you use proper grammar and good word choices. I get irritated when I hear bad grammar, slang, profanity, and nonsensical wording spoken by allegedly intelligent people. Here are some of my biggest irritations:

The word “like ” is inserted in sentences when not needed or appropriate. Here is an example: He was like running down the street and like, yelling at like the people he saw.

Last year describes the previous calendar year. The word is not “lashear.”

Me and Kelly went to the store is bad grammar. Kelly and I went to the store. Never start a sentence with “me.”

Crap ton, shit load, “the F bomb” and all the other vulgar words are never appropriate among educated people. Ignorant people use them, often to exaggerate a point. I cringe when I hear profanity on TV, especially among our government leaders. Terrible practice, Low class.

The word “to” is never spoken as “ta.” Sally went to the store, not ta the store.

The days of the week are spoken with “day” at the end, like “Monday.” It is not “Mondy.”

When ordering food at a restaurant, please say “I would like the cheeseburger”, not “I’ll do the cheeseburger.” Where did that phraseology come from.

“He don’t want to play today” is wrong. The correct wording is “he doesn’t want to play today.” I hear the wrong verb tense spoken all the time, especially on ESPN. Where is the English teachers? Hahaha.

And-“at the end of the day” and “in terms of ” are used all the time on TV, mostly by pompous people.

And my biggest irritation:

After you thank a server or customer service employee, their response should not be “no problem.” Gee, I am glad it was not a problem for you to help me. A simple “your welcome” would be fine.

My Weekly Highlights

May 15, 2025

“When people are presented the alternatives of hating themselves for their failures or hating others for their success, they seldom choose to hate themselves.” Dr. Thomas Sowell

Just back from trip to DR. Had to show my passport 3 times to enter and had my picture taken twice. I even had to present my passport at the hotel. Upon returning to US had to show passport 3 times and photo taken twice. I had no problem with the immigration process.

The Biden administration encouraged colleges and universities to drop standardized tests for college admissions. Instead, colleges used “life struggles” and personal essays for admissions for about 4 years. Results now show that those students did not perform well in college. Thus, the SAT’s and ACTs are back and the correlation between test scores and college GPA’s is remarkable. See graph above. And these students graduated in 4 years. Recent studies have also shown students from different backgrounds (race/gender) with similar test scores performed well in college. This is one of the reasons Trump removed DEI from college admissions.

I like RFK. He is focusing the Dept. of Health and Human Services on the prevention of chronic diseases. This includes focusing research grants and studies on healthy habits to prevent chronic diseases. About 60% of all Americans suffer from chronic disease including high body mass index, drug use, tobacco use, and dietary issues. Less than 9% of government funded research is directed to prevention. RFK is changing that. He is also issuing new guidelines for school lunches.

And speaking of healthy lifestyles, a new study from Johns Hopkins indicates that vaping is very harmful. Thirty countries have already banned the sale of vaping products. The study used 6 popular brands of vapes and found heavy metals, chromium, pesticides, formaldehyde, and hazardous aerosols in the vaping products. The product also damages human tissue.

Trump is right about school discipline guidelines. His new guidelines focus on student behaviors without bias toward student race. Biden issued guidelines to schools regarding students race and “inclusion.” That meant Black students, as an example, were disciplined differently than other students. The criteria were different. Over the course of 4-6 years that placed racial equity over student safety. And the safety for teachers. Ask any public K-12 teacher what their biggest challenge is, and they will say disruptive students.

Above is a picture of a Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van. These vans are wonderful with great interiors. Regrettably, one of these vans is taking my dental hygienist to Idaho so she can live near her daughters. She has worked on me for 15 years and I will miss her. Godspeed B.

Sweden is getting bombed!

April 30, 2025

“The formula I=I means ignorance equals inventory. The less knowledgeable a business has about its suppliers, internal processes, markets, and customers, the more inventory that company will carry.” Self

Sweden is 900 miles long and has over 10 million people. The capital is Stockholm with 1.7 million people.

Beginning in 2014, Sweden saw a huge spike in immigration, mostly from Syria. The problem was so bad, Sweden imposed border controls. The country also saw a huge spike in violent crime. And-Sweden experienced a 2X increase in pension applications. Sweden’s government provides pensions, and many people move to Sweden for that benefit.

Sweden also experienced an historical record of shootings in 2022. Same with homicides.

Currently, Sweden is experiencing the bombing of stores and restaurants. Violent immigrant gangs are extorting money from small business owners. About 30 bombings took place in Sweden in January. National Police Chief, Petra Lundh, pointed to mass immigration as the cause of these bombings. The crime statistics in Sweden point to immigrants as being “overrepresented.”

Lastly, reports indicate that immigrant gangs are recruiting new members via the internet, often posting high paying job opportunities for store bombing jobs. Sweden needs a strong leader to eliminate the gangs.

In Case you missed!

Limestone College is located in Gaffney, South Carolina and has 1,600 students. This small, private, liberal arts college offers 42 different undergraduate degrees. As of today, the college is $30 million in debt and scheduled to close in June. Who loaned $$$’s to this school? And yet, the college supports 23 sports teams (20 head coaches) including 13 women’s teams. So-offer sport scholarships and neglect other financial matters. Too bad.

Charlotte NC has a MS-13 problem. This week 2 members of this vicious gang were sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder a Wilson Edgardo Gutierrez Mejia. He was shot in the head outside a Charlotte nightclub. While lying on the ground, Mejia was shot 3 more times. It was reported that the killing helped get the two shooters a “promotion” in the MS 13 gang. The shooters were from El Salvador and Guatemala. A third MS 13 member was sentenced to 17 years for the kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl.

The US now has 900+ cases of measles according to the CDC. Thus far, about30 states have reported the outbreak but the most active cases are centered in Texas and New Mexico. The vast number of these cases involve foreign-born people. Illegal immigrants.

Nikola Motor Company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company tried to make EV trucks. Their problems were varied and significant, including the payment of $125 million to settle federal charges of defrauding investors. The founder, and CEO, Trevor Milton was charged with securities and wire fraud. During this same period, the Biden administration granted Nikola $2 million as part of the “new green deal.”

Several new research studies have reported why housing prices and rents have risen so dramatically in the US. The conclusion is migration, especially in the major US cities. Same with homelessness. Major cities like NYC, Denver, Chicago attribute 80+ percent of the rise in homelessness to “asylum seekers.” And-the studies show that illegal immigrants do not “pay their way.” Arguments for low-skilled migrants built around supposed labor shortages are also false. Migrants without college degrees are a financial drain to the economies. These studies included the US, Britan, Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands. lastly, Goldman Sachs (bank) reported that Australia’s net migrant flow of 500,00 people raises rents by 5% annually.

Two new museums are planned for the Smithsonian Institution in DC. One for women and the other for Hispanics. Really? Why can’t we have a national museum celebrating all people. Why do these groups get their own building at taxpayer expense? However, the funding and construction has been delayed due to disagreements regarding content. The federal government wants the museums to show shared American values, not those that separate Americans into racial and/or gender groups. Some exhibits that celebrate the exploits of men in women’s sports are being planned. Sadly, is that really what the US citizens want in the Smithsonian???

Student Visas and Hamas!

Another mess for Trump to cleanup!

April 16, 2025

” A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be.” Wayne Gretzky, Hockey G.O.A.T.

Google image

Currently, North Carolina has 24, 500 international students enrolled at the state’s colleges and universities. Wow! That is a whooping number. These students are required to apply for student visas and if granted, the students are assigned case file numbers with the Department of Homeland Security.

It is a privilege granted to international students to study in the US. And there are rules to maintain their student visas. They must be full-time students attending an accredited college or university, they must have proficiency in English, and the $$$’s to support themselves.

These students are granted a F-1 visa by the Dept. of Immigration. That is the process for attending US colleges. If one of these students is arrested, then that is a violation of their visa status, and they must leave the US. It is that simple. They are not entitled to “due process.”

Organizing and/or participating in a protest rally for a terrorist organization is grounds for a F-1 visa revocation.

It should Not be Easy to buy a New Home

April 14, 2025

“Giving debt relief to people that really need it, that’s what foreclosure is.” J.P. Morgan

Google image

Down Payment Assistance plans are a bad idea!

I am absolutely against the “new” programs to help first time buyers with the purchase of a house. Buying a new home should be hard! It is a huge decision. To buy a new home ($350,000) this year requires a 20% or higher down payment and a $300,000 mortgage loan. At today’s interest rates, a $300,000 mortgage loan financed for 30 years will cost $285,000 in interest. So-the total cost of the home will be $638,000.

Mortgage lenders know exactly and precisely what type of people (single or married) can “afford” a new home and thus qualify for a mortgage loan. The lenders have meta-data, collecting financial transaction statistics for decades. That is how the loan applications and qualifications are determined. We all know what happened in 2007 -2008 with the sub-prime loan debacle. Millions of people incorrectly “qualified” for home loans and defaulted.

Another example of this economic fallacy is the new car re-possessions in 2024. Biden mailed out millions of stimulus checks in 2021. People already had money; their overall spending was curtailed due to covid. Student loan payments were paused, so people bought new, expensive cars and trucks. Two years later the US saw historic record levels of car repossessions. See above chart.

Now- states like Illinois want to loan new home buyers money toward the down payment or even grant “forgivable” loans (whatever the hell that is). States also want to use taxpayer funds for “home assistance grants,” or even special savings accounts with matching $$$’s provided by the state. These are bad ideas. If you don’t have the down payment, you can’t afford the house. It is that simple. A young person (married or single) can save $40,000 to $50,000 in about 10 years.

Home ownership is an important step in accumulating personal wealth. It takes discipline and planning,

Tattoos are hazardous to Your Health

April, 8, 2025

“If you think something is too good to be true, It probably is!” Self

The Biomed Central Journal published a recent study conducted in Denmark regarding the relationship between body tattoos and cancer.

The study revealed that tattoos appear to increase a person’s chance of getting skin cancer and lymphoma by 33% to 62%! The ink in tattoos can migrate to and accumulate in the lymph nodes, especially tattoos the size of a person’s palm, or larger. The ink particles that accumulate are treated by the body as a “foreign substance” which then triggers the immune system. Over time, this persistent strain on the immune system may weaken the function of the lymph nodes and cause other health issues. This is according to the new study.

The study also revealed that large tattoos are especially dangerous. Large tattoos increase the risk of skin cancer by 2.3 times and lymphoma by 2.8 times.

The cost of a “full sleeve tattoo” as shown above is about $3000. She will need much more money for her cancer treatments.

A Tribute to Dr. Thomas Sowell

Part 1 of a Three-Part Series

April 5, 2025

A good example of “equity” is when a 6th grade math teacher gives all 30 students in her class a score of 77 on a test. There were 9 students that scored above 90, and 11 students that scored in the 80’s, but the class average was 77. The top students were furious, the lower students liked the grade. On the next test, the class average declined to 72. Self.

Google Image

Dr. Thomas Sowell is my favorite economist. I have read 6 of his books on Economics.

Dr. Sowell was born in 1930 in NC and lived in extreme poverty for most of his childhood. At age 9 his family moved to Harlem. He was accepted to Stuyvesant HS (private school for gifted students). He was the first member of his family to reach HS. However, Sowell had to drop out due to family financial problems.

In 1951 Sowell was drafted into the Marines and served 2 years during the Korean War. After the war, he completed his HS diploma, studied at Howard U. and later was accepted to Harvard. He graduated from Harvard in 1958 magna cum laude. He earned a master’s degree in economics at Columbia and later (1968) received his PhD in economics from the U. of Chicago. Sowell taught economics at Cornell, Brandeis, and UCLA. He has written 45 books on economics and social politics and is considered a conservative.

This post is my tribute to Dr. Thomas Sowell. Below are some of my favorite writings from my favorite economist:

  • “In American society, achievement is what ultimately brings respect, including self-respect.”
  • “Equal opportunity laws and policies require that individuals be judged on their qualifications as individuals. Affirmative action requires that they be judged with regard to such group membership, receiving preferential treatment, in some cases.”
  • “To many of us, a level playing field means that everyone plays by the same rules and is judged by the same standards. To others, however, a level playing field means that results are pre-arranged by third parties who ration out benefits to various groups.”
  • “Government programs that promote “affordable housing” are programs to allow some people to decide what housing they want and force other people, taxpayers, landlords, others, to absorb a share of the costs of a decision that they had no voice in making.”
  • “Denying citizenship is not a punishment because crossing the border illegally does not entitle you to citizenship. “
  • On preserving the American Black culture-“in a world where an absolute majority of Black children are born and raised in fatherless homes, where most Black kids never finish HS, and where the murder rate among Blacks is several times the national average, surely there must be more urgent priorities than preserving a lifestyle and identity.”
  • “They say cream rises to the top. However, among government employees, the cream tends to leave after a few years, allowing mediocrity to rise to the top.”
  • British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher gave the best definition of consensus-lack of leadership.”
  • “A majority of men in prison came from fatherless families. In some cosmic sense, it may not be entirely their fault that they took the wrong road. But that doesn’t change the fact that it was the wrong road-or make it any less dangerous to turn them loose.”
  • “It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions that by putting those decisions in the hands of people who will pay no price for being wrong.”

The Molotov Cocktail

March 22, 2025-revised

Originally posted in April 2023

Throwing firebombs at Tesla dealerships and cars! An act of terrorism!

Gasoline has a high energy density. It is explosive, especially when contained in solid object like a glass bottle. In the US. the Molotov cocktail is considered an “explosive device” and is illegal to own. Gasoline has 15 times more stored energy per unit than gunpowder!

The Molotov cocktail was invented in Finland in 1938 and used against Russian military tanks. The device, named after a Russian general, was very effective. It is a handheld firebomb.

Today, in the US. it is used by “peaceful” protestors during riots in our large cities. Over the last 2 years (2021-2023), Molotov cocktails were thrown at police cars, police stations, Federal buildings, churches, store windows, police barricades, and at crowds of people. And now at Tesla cars and dealerships.

The people that hurled these bombs are terrorists. Yet hardly any were arrested. The FBI will find these people and arrest them. I will be very interested in learning the terrorist’s backgrounds.

During some riots, the liberal leaders in our cities and many universities ordered the police to “stand down.” Hundreds of police officers were injured, thousands of businesses were destroyed, many with Molotov cocktails.

The US. needs strong leadership and law and order. Anyone caught with a Molotov cocktail should be arrested and charged with terrorism.
