These are pictures of Amanda Lynn Tully. She is 37 years old and has $65,000 in student debt. She graduated 9 years ago from U. of Oregon with a master’s degree in Historic Preservation. Probably, a nonsense degree. No job! Still, obtaining 2 college degrees from U. of Oregon and graduating with $65K in debt is reasonable. Imagine her income if she had pursued an MBA? She made very bad choices.
A year after she graduated, she moved to Prague to avoid paying her student debt. She was paying $60/month when she defaulted her loans. Somehow, she had the $$$’s to move to Prague. and to buy multiple tattoos. The large tattoo on her arm costs about $600, maybe more.
Her story was featured in our local newspaper, the “Charlotte Fishwrap.” The article was a full-page story about her and 3 others. All student loan debtors that have fled the US.
Tully’s loan does not go away. It is a contractual agreement. She borrowed the money from the US. Federal Government funded by taxpayer dollars. She is in default and her credit record will be impacted. She has made many bad choices.
The Charlotte “Fishwrap” should not publish stories like this.
