“Flag, land, heart, and hand.” Oliver Wendell Holmes, U.S Supreme Court Justice 1902-1932.
President Barack Obama has his library. It is located in Chicago. The library opened in June of last year. Americans have to pay $30 each to enter, children’s tickets cost $23. A family of four would have to pay $106. Residents of Illinois pay a reduced ticket price.

The library sits on 19 acres. The library cost $900 million to build. The exact costs are being hidden by all the Democrats in Chicago, Illinois and elsewhere. The city of Chicago had to spend $230+ million for the infrastructure (civil engg., roads, storm sewers, utilities, security, etc. The state of Illinois also paid money toward the costs.
The U.S Department of Transportation paid a portion of the funding. Taxpayer funds.
Residents of Chicago state that the library is the ugliest building in Chicago.
What kind of man would want donors, city resident’s, state residents, and US taxpayers to pay $900 million for a library? Not counting the ongoing costs to operate.
Obama has a foundation, donor money, but it is unclear how much the foundation contributed.
If there is a housing shortage in Chicago, especially for low-income residents, the $900 million would have built approximately 3,500 new homes.
Postscript-the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum is located on the campus of Southern Methodist University and cost to $250 million to build. All of the expense was paid for by the Bush Foundation.
